Crown and Bridge
Sometimes when a tooth is fractured or already has previously undergone substantial restorations, the best option is to repair it with a dental crown. A crown is essentially a manufactured tooth which fits over the top of your existing tooth.
Before having a crown, your existing tooth is reshaped, with any decay or broken sections removed. A digital impression is made and sent to the laboratory where a technician fabricates the final restoration. The crown is inserted to cover over the remaining tooth. Dental Crowns can assist with making your teeth look more attractive, whilst also providing additional strength, durability and stability.
Dental Crowns are generally made of feldspathic porcelain, lithium disilicate ceramic or zirconia, that can match the color and texture-of your existing teeth.
A crown can also be made of gold alloys for improved strength when replacing a back tooth. Often, a metal crown will have porcelain bonded to the exterior to give it strength and a natural look.

WHY A DENTAL CROWN?
Due to their increased strength, crown and bridge work is often referred to as a long-term restoration solution. If appropriate, treatment for your crown and bridge work can:
- Provide protection for badly decayed or fractured teeth
- Act as a permanent restoration for teeth with large fillings
- Correct minor problems in natural teeth like spacing, irregular shape or severe discoloration
- Replace missing teeth by use of a bridge
- Stabilize your bite due to missing teeth
- Help to improve the aesthetics of your teeth
- Help to restore oral health quality of life by replacing missing teeth or restoring your smile
