First appointment and dental cleanings for kids
We make the experience as comfortable and positive as possible on a kid’s first dental appointment. A positive first impression is the key. Our experienced team introduces the dental world to the kid in a friendly and amusing way. We will introduce them to the dental chair in a fun way to ease any anxiety.

After getting to know the environment, we usually start by gently examining your child’s teeth and soft tissues. If the kid feels comfortable and enjoys the interaction, our dentists can even proceed to a gentle polish and fluoride application on their very first visit. We always play it by ear and follow each child’s unique needs.
Oral Hygiene Instructions for parents and kids
We will also provide guidance on brushing to both the kid and even more importantly the parents to encourage a lifetime of healthy smiles! Good oral hygiene starts at home, and we are here to help you achieve this together. We recommend that parents brush their kids teeth until the child learns to brush properly, after which supervision is still a must. We will give you loads of tips such as the type of toothbrush that should be used, the amount and type of toothpaste, and tricks to making good oral hygiene a routine habit twice a day.

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a thin, protective coating applied to the biting surfaces of your molars and premolars to help prevent cavities in the deep grooves and fissures, where caries usually occurs. They are especially helpful for children and teenagers, who may have difficulty cleaning the hard-to-reach areas of their teeth. Sealants are often needed by the age of 6, as soon as the first permanent molars appear.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a mineral that helps to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities. Fluoride treatments involve applying a fluoride gel or foam to the teeth, which is left on for a few minutes and then rinsed off. Fluoride treatments are quick, easy, and painless, and can be done during your regular dental checkup.
Orthodontic Consults
At Floss Dental Clinic we will thoroughly evaluate your child orthodontically and advise you about any needed orthodontic treatments and the right age for them based on your child’s needs.
Interceptive orthodontics is a specific type of orthodontics intended for children whose mouths are still developing, and it has become more popular in recent years. It can improve your child’s experience and outcome with orthodontic treatment.
With interceptive orthodontics, treatment starts earlier than it would via traditional orthodontic methods, sometimes as early as 6 years. By contrast, standard orthodontic treatment begins around age 10-12, when most of the permanent teeth have come in. Interceptive treatment doesn’t always involve braces; instead, it can employ many other techniques, ranging from removing primary teeth sequentially or special devices for behavioral modification. Afterward, traditional braces or other orthodontic appliances are often, but not always, needed.
